HITOMEBORE
It was first created in Miyagi in 1981 by cross-breeding Koshihikari with another Japanese rice Hatsuboshi to make the rice tolerant of cold weather. It is now produced in many areas in Japan from Aomori in the north to Okinawa in the south.

こしひかりと初星（はつぼし）を両親として1991年に宮城県で誕生し、寒さに強いように改良されたお米です。栽培が比較的簡単なため、現在では青森県から沖縄県まで、広い地域で生産されています。
